Position Information

Hiring Department: About Parking & Transportation Services

Posting End Date: Open until filled.

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 5:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends.

FLSA status: Non-exempt

Earliest Start Date: As soon as possible.

Salary: $25,000 annually.

Purpose of Position

Essential Functions

Summary: Serves as the University representative to students, visitors, faculty, and staff entering the campus. Provides parking and transportation assistance and related service to students, visitors, faculty, and staff. Assists visitors and guests of the University by providing parking information and directions. Provides logistical support for enforcement of University parking regulations in designated areas.

This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and must be insurable as defined in the UT System UTS 157, as applicable to the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of the position.



Statement of Duties and Responsibilities:



Acts as an ambassador of the University; provides courteous assistance to visitors, faculty, staff, and students as to the location of buildings, offices, campus facilities, and points of interest.



Performs motorist service, escort service, and other public service duties; assists with opening locked vehicles, providing jump starts for stalled vehicles, assisting with flat tires, etc.; directs flow of traffic and parking of cars.



Enforces University parking rules and regulations; checks access permits and allows access to campus; reports all lost, stolen, or counterfeit permits to campus police.



Operates University vehicles, such as cars, trucks, golf carts, or bicycles, within and around campus, while patrolling campus parking lots and garages.



Erects cones, barricades, ropes, etc. to reserve parking areas for events and/or construction emergencies; assists campus police, facilities personnel, and/or event management personnel during inclement weather or heavy traffic periods to set or remove barricades, signs, flags, replace or remove gate arms.



VIP Parking Experience, sells, scan and promote event parking through the ParkMobile platform. Secure and patrol lot reserved for event patrons. Greet and direct patrons to the venue.



Provides logistical support for enforcement of parking policies and ticket issuance, including but not limited to operation of computer equipment for citation issuances, downloads of ticket and audit information onto computer databases, and appearing before traffic courts on contested citations



Operates handheld computer scanner to perform inventories of pay meters, conducts audits, performs operational checks, and maintenance checks; operates meter collection cart in emptying of meters; unloads collection cart into coin retrieval buckets for processing; counts coins as necessary; reports parking meter malfunctions.



Operates communication radio equipment.



Equipment maintenance - Store, paint and inventory gates. Install and replace gate arms as needed. Do periodic preventive maintenance at meters, pay stations, gate houses, pedestals, vehicles and other departmental equipment.



Performs lot checks, lot utilization studies, lot surveys and maintenance reports.



Prepares incident, activity, and property reports and other required paperwork.



Observes safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.



Must be able to work various shifts as assigned, including overtime, occasional weekends, and in inclement weather.



Installs and removes immobilization devices ("vehicle boots"); impounds bicycles by U-lock or removal; exercises a high degree of care impounding, transporting, and storing vehicles.



Reports all activated alarms, including car alarms or fire alarms, to campus police dispatch.



Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and ability to learn and use institutional software systems.



Complies with all State and University policies.



Other duties may be assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

and

Experience: One year of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
